Charlotte started The School of Life in-house psychotherapy service. She is deeply interested in issues with anxiety and emotional management, relationships, low self-esteem and confidence, family dynamics, feeling stuck or lost, creativity blocks, and loss of meaning. Charlotte works in a way that is collaborative and relational, in both time-limited and longer-term therapy. Working closely together, psychotherapy helps people have a better understanding of the problems of living in order to make changes that serve growth and personal fulfillment.
What is your greatest extravagance?: Truffles. Lots of them.
What is your current state of mind?: I'm desperate to create. I've responded to restrictions and limitations with a fierce desire to leave my mark in some way.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?: Patience. Sometimes, we need to get moving. I know that's perverse for me to say, especially as a psychotherapist, but I think we need to hurry up and do the things we want to do, and live our lives, not slow down and endlessly delay.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?: "How fascinating" and "That's amazing!"
Which talent would you most like to have?: I would love to be a good dancer.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?: I would like to stop ruminating and second guessing myself.
What is your most treasured possession?: The personal dictionary that belonged to Truman Capote. I asked my parents to buy it for me from an auction, years ago, as a Christmas gift. It was expensive but my God was it worth every penny. It has his receipts and old theatre stubs inside some of the pages, and his handwriting, and countless scribbles that are priceless.
What is your most marked characteristic?: I'm pretty enthusiastic and energetic.
What do you most value in your friends?: Acceptance. It's incredible when friends are utterly accepting of all the foibles and vulnerabilities and strengths.
What is your motto?: Living well is the best revenge.
