Dr. Elizabeth Kapuʻuwailani Lindsey is the first Polynesian Explorer and female Fellow in the history of the National Geographic Society. A cultural anthropologist and award-winning filmmaker, the former Miss Hawaiʻi travels throughout the world as a conservationist of indigenous wisdom and an advocate for social, environmental and cultural justice.

Where would you most like to live?: My home is the world. My favorite place is beside George.

What is your most treasured possession?: Love letters from my husband, the navigational feather of my mentor who was the greatest wayfinder in the world, and two meteorites from a Queros elder.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?: Mahatma Gandhi

Who are your heroes in real life?: My father who was a humble man, brilliant scholar and spiritual giant. My husband George Crowley who everything and more. And the first responders for their courage and compassion.

What is it that you most dislike?: Violence and prejudice

What is your greatest regret?: That I met my husband at age 60. I wish weʻd met sooner so that we could love each other longer.
