Hero Shop founder Emily Holt grew up in Los Gatos, California, and spent more than a decade working in New York City as an editor at Conde Nast. She was fashion news editor at Vogue, covering the runway shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris for the website and writing about trends and personal style for the magazine. Prior to that, she covered the social and celebrity worlds for W magazine and Women’s Wear Daily. As a journalist, her writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal and WSJ., Elle, Bon Appetit, Cherry Bombe and C magazine, among other titles. She received her masters degree in journalism from New York University and currently lives across the street from the beach in San Francisco.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?: I wish I had more courage to ask for what I want and/or ask for help more frequently.

Who are your heroes in real life?: Anyone who does good work to better society, culture and our world, of course, is a hero, but I also believe in everyday heroes. All kinds of people save my day on a daily basis.
