The Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity Launches to Continue Ray and Charles Eameses’ Legacy of Creative Problem-Solving

Curator Llisa Demetrios, designer and entrepreneur Joe Gebbia, and CEO John Cary announce the formation of the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity, a new nonprofit organization that aims to bring the lessons of Ray and Charles Eames to those looking to solve today’s most challenging issues. Through archival exhibitions, diverse storytelling, live events and other programming, the Institute will equip curious problem solvers with the inspiration and tools to tackle today’s challenges.

Ray and Charles Eames remain two of the best-known designers in the world. While their iconic design for furniture and films are widely recognizable, the processes by which they approached problem-solving are equally essential. The Eames Institute believes there are infinite lessons in their methodology, and therefore will champion active learning through iteration, encourage experimentation, and equip guests with the tools to solve problems at any scale. Led by President & CEO John Cary and Chief Curator Llisa Demetrios, granddaughter of Ray and Charles, the Institute will demonstrate the Eameses’ iterative process, deep well of curiosity, and love of discovery through a vast array of ephemera from the couple’s work and personal archives.
