The Triennale Milano activities as part of the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad
On the occasion of the Olympics and Paralympics Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, Triennale Milano is presenting a range of activities and cultural events dedicated to the world of sport and to the Olympic values through all the many activities, visions and forms of expression that Triennale embraces. The relationship between culture and sport will emerge from the exhibitions, projects and events on the Institution’s public program. Triennale Milano will also be host to Casa Italia, the headquarters of the Winter Olympics and the heart of all the media activities involving the Olympics
During the Winter Olympics, Triennale Milano will offer a cultural program that demonstrates the values of sport through an exhibition, White Out. The Future of Winter Sport, as well as a new itinerary in the Italian Design Museum and a special public program.
White Out. The Future of Winter Sport is organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Milan Monza Brianza Lodi, and will be open from January 28 to March 29, 2026. The exhibition is curated by Konstantin Gricic and Marco Sammicheli, the Director of the Museo del Design Italiano di Triennale, with exhibition design by Konstantin Grcic Design GmbH. It is an exhibition that investigates the relationship between winter sports and design, with particular reference to the inevitable future challenges posed by the climate change already in process and by the innovations in technological progress. The expression “white out”, that appears in the title, refers to a particular optical effect that is generated at high altitudes, causing a situation of poor visibility deriving from the fusion of the white sky and the snow-covered landscape. The exhibition itinerary will be organized in thematic sections that put the focus on disciplines, projects, equipment and technologies with a special thematic focus on sports architecture.
Also, on display in the exhibition galleries of the Piano Parco until March 15, 2026, will be the Art Posters, ten posters commissioned from some of the most interesting Italian artists who were invited to explore the relationship between art and sport. On display alongside the Art Posters (until March 15, 2026) will be the Olympic Torch and the Paralympic Torch, the two symbols of the Olympics that were presented at an official ceremony at Triennale in April 2025. The event, promoted by the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, took place simultaneously in Milan and Osaka, in the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.
There will be plenty of meetings, conferences, workshops and performances devoted to sport and the Olympics: a rich array of events that will shape the public program both before and after the Olympics.
