Bernhardt Design Debuts Six New Pieces at NeoCon in June 2023

June 12 – June 14

Chicago, IL - Bernhardt Design launches six new products at NeoCon 2023 with an impressive list of award-winning designers: Salvadoran design duo Claudia and Harry Washington, French multidisciplinary designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, LA-based product designer Cory Grosser, multihyphenate Terry Crews, and Chicagoan design entrepreneur Scott Wilson

The novel designs, five seating products, and one multi-functional table system, range broadly in concept from a lounge chair inspired by a blazer to a barstool informed by the philosophy of “optimistic minimalism.” All six products, however, represent the artful execution of imaginative forms grounded by superior function. They are innovative iterations of traditional pieces that promise elevated aesthetics, exceptional comfort, and intentionally pragmatic design.

Largo is the latest barstool collection born of an ongoing collaboration with international designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance. The Largo barstool and counter stool are both elegant and functional – a trademark of their renowned designer. Inspired by nature, the Largo seat’s round frame presents a unique take on the classic barstool, employing a signature nest-like curved back that lends itself to optimal support. A stunning cross-stretcher in brushed graphite stainless steel offers an artistic twist on the classic metal footrest. Largo is cocooning and comfortable – a welcome reprieve from traditional barstools.

Duchaufour-Lawrance continues to challenge traditional shapes with his latest armchair, Neve. Neve inventively plays with curves and lines, bringing subtle beauty to the archetypal wooden armchair. While its subtle lines amalgamate to form a distinctly robust chair for daily use, the cushioned seat provides a central retreat, a plush island sheltered by the solid frame.

Terry Crews’ RKC lounge, eponymously named for his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, was influenced by her quest for the perfect blazer. Marking Crews’ fifth collaboration with Bernhardt Design, the RKC lounge is a study in contrasts. A distinctive, thin exterior shell serves as the architecture of the piece: one continuous line tracing the chair’s perimeter. A generously scaled seat has visual weight and is soft and inviting. The stainless-steel base changes appearance as you move around the chair, revealing more metal from different perspectives.

Darby is a wooden barstool by Pasadena, CA-based designer Cory Grosser, blending masterful craft and traditional joinery techniques with a contemporary aesthetic. Defined by the precise composition of simple geometric forms and strong lines, the Darby stool is a friendly, approachable object suitable for a wide range of interior spaces. Marking Cory’s sixth collaboration with Bernhardt Design, Darby is the latest example of Cory's philosophy of "optimistic minimalism," which he defines as "design based on purity without being austere or cold."

Preceded by a guest and swivel chair, the Prelude Lounge is third in the Prelude Seating Collection by Valencia-based designers Claudia and Harry Washington. Designed to evoke a universally comforting experience like a warming hug, Prelude’s backrest embraces you with soft curves that gently overlap the seat. Prelude’s organic lines and flowing contours provide an attractive, inviting shape that delivers style and exceptional comfort.

Chicago-based global designer Scott Wilson of MNML has collaborated a second time with Bernhardt Design to launch his newest comprehensive table collection, Intersection. Thoughtfully designed and meticulously crafted, Intersection achieves an impactful presence with an airy feel. Intersection’s design strikes a delicate balance between understated elegance and arresting architecture while its flexible construction allows it to seamlessly adapt to a variety of workspaces, from desking to small breakout rooms and beyond. The angles of the table transform from bold to delicate as one’s viewing angle changes, resulting in a dynamic and engaging design.
