This Human Trafficking Prevention Month, An Ohio Farm Is Using Honey To Help Survivors
Building on the success of its December launch, Ohio-based business Broadlawn Farm proudly continues its commitment to supporting survivors of human trafficking during Human Trafficking Prevention Month. This January, Broadlawn Farm returns with a replenished stock and an expanded honey portfolio, including the new addition of chunk honey—an infusion of honey with pieces of honeycomb. The goal is to raise further funds for RJEC and engage the community in awareness and prevention efforts surrounding human trafficking.
Founder, Elizabeth (Beth) Sheeler, uses her knowledge of positive psychology to build Broadlawn Farm into a business that improves the wellbeing of those connected to it. The driving force behind Broadlawn Farm's philanthropic endeavors, Beth drew inspiration from her encounter with survivors facilitated by Jay Hadam, an award-winning beekeeper who manages over 50 bee colonies across Ohio. Jay found solace in beekeeping as an escape from his full-time role working as a Task Force Officer with human trafficking survivors. Recognizing the therapeutic effects of beekeeping, he invited Beth to join survivors in learning the art of beekeeping.
Motivated by these impactful experiences, Beth decided to sell the locally produced honey on Broadlawn Farm's website, with 20% of proceeds earmarked to support RJEC. The Renee Jones Empowerment Center, as the sole 501(c)(3) organization in Northeast Ohio dedicated to offering life coaching and aftercare assistance, will direct the financial support towards programs for survivors.
Priced at $24.95 per jar, the honey is exclusively available on Broadlawnfarm.com, and 20% of all sales will be directed to the Renee Jones Empowerment Center. By choosing Broadlawn Farm Honey, consumers not only support their well-being but also contribute directly to the Center's mission of providing comprehensive support to those courageously breaking free from the shackles of human trafficking.
