Triennale Milano's Forthcoming Exhibitions and Activities Programming

Triennale Milano announces the exhibitions to open during the autumn of 2023, offering a varied and multi-faceted program ranging from design to architecture, painting to photography. Following the renovation of the Museo del Design Italiano in April 2023, Triennale presents two exhibitions dedicated to two exponents of design and planning. The first exhibition, realised in collaboration with Studio Sottsass, will be dedicated to Ettore Sottsass (Ettore Sottsass. Metafore,September 29, 2023 – April 2024) and will bring together a series of photographs taken between 1972 and 1978. The second will focus on the figure of Alberto Meda (Alberto Meda. Tensione e leggerezza, October 6, 2023 – January 7, 2024) and the key themes of his work, such as the integration of functions, technology, the concept of comfort and play, and the production of objects.

Of great importance are the collaborations with other, Italian and international institutions, thanks to which some important exhibitions are made possible, such as the retrospective dedicated to Seth Siegelaub (October 6, 2023 – January 7, 2024), in collaboration with Fondazione Antonio Ratti, and the exhibition on Gabriele Basilico (October 13, 2023 – January 7, 2024), promoted and produced by Comune di Milano-Culture, Palazzo Reale, Triennale Milano, together with Electa and realised with the scientific collaboration of Archivio Gabriele Basilico.

Among the exhibitions dedicated to photography is Vincenzo Castella’s solo show (October 19, 2023 – January 7, 2024), which investigates the themes of urban spaces and botanical gardens through numerous images in various formats. As part of the celebrations for the Triennale's centenary, marked by various exhibitions and events taking place in 2023, there is the exhibition Pittura italiana oggi (Italian Painting Today; October 25, 2023 – February 11, 2024), a large group show dedicated to contemporary Italian painting and featuring the works of 120 Italian artists.

As part of the partnership between Triennale Milano and Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, a large solo exhibition of the work of Ron Mueck (December 6, 2023 – March 10,2024) will be presented for the first time in Italy. As always, the programming of the exhibitions will establish a dialogue with the performance program, which will resume from October to December with the Theatre Season, and with the appointments of the public program, comprising meetings, conferences, and online content, developing an interdisciplinary dialogue between the various physical and virtual platforms.
