Triennale Milano Announces Centenary Year Programming and Celebratory Schedule of Events

2023 marks the centenary of Triennale Milano, the world-renowned cultural institution that was born from the first edition of the Decorative Arts Biennale 100 years ago. The year’s programming celebrates the history of the institution through a contemporary lens, offering a rich and varied calendar of exhibitions, events, symposia, lectures, performances, and concerts.

In celebration of the Triennale Milano’s 100th anniversary, the history of the renowned institution will be explored through three central exhibitions of each of the core disciplines – design, architecture, and art.

The first project, celebrating design, opens during Salone del Mobile.Milano in April, where the Museo del Design Italiano will present a permanent display of the most iconic pieces of Italian design, from 1923 through to today, selected from the 1,600 items in the Triennale Milano Permanent Collection.

Triennale Milano’s 2023 exhibition programming also features leading luminaries in the fields of architecture and design, including Angelo Mangiarotti, Ettore Sottsass, and Gabriele Basilico.

For the first time, Triennale’s full archives, including works from Lucio Fontana, Enzo Mari, Alessandro Mendini, Gio Ponti, Mario Sironi, and Ettore Sottsass, will open to the public to celebrate its 100 years of history showcasing objects, prototypes, illustrations and more.
